Omit's Medusa Truth Part 2 album releases on 13 April

It's with great pleasure that we can finally announce that Omit's new album is almost upon us. The release date was just set for 13 April 2018, so make sure to update your calendars.

We've also decided to start handling those pre-orders right away, so that everyone's able to head over here to secure a physical copy of the first print of this release.

As we're sure most of you have guessed, Medusa Truth Part 2 is the follow-up to the ambitious Medusa Truth Part 1, released back in late November of 2014.

The music for Medusa Truth Part 2 was written around the same time as Part 1, in 2014 and early 2015, but since the Omit members were also busy with (lots of) other musical projects during this time, the recordings didn’t get started until 2017. The recordings were completed over a few sessions in the last half of 2017 and got set for an early 2018 release window.

We're sure that you'll find that Omit's music continues to evolve with the release of this latest album. Medusa Truth Part 2 certainly contains the heavy, melodic, orchestral and dynamic type of doom metal that Omit have become known for.

Skumring's De Glemte Tider (Remastered) has been released!

"Ten years have passed since the release of Skumring’s debut album De Glemte Tider on Aftermath records. Here at Secret Quarters Records, we still get a lot of questions about this release, and since it has been sold out for years, we figured that it was about time to do a re-release of this doom metal gem. And why not give it a remaster while we’re at it, just to subtly fix some of the audio issues with the original low budget version.

Kjetil Ottersen took on the task of doing the remaster, and I think the result sounds quite a lot better than the release from 2005. I hope you’ll enjoy listening to it."

Skumring's De Glemte Tider (Remastered) album releases 11.11.2015!

We just set the release date for a remastered version of Skumring's legendary De Glemter Tider album.

This album was originally released back in 2005, now ten years ago. As such, this release celebrates this album's ten year anniversary by releasing a version of the album with better sonics, as well as making it available for sale again. The previous print sold out a long time ago. In addition, the album has never been (legally) available through any of the streaming/download services out there.

De Glemte Tider (Remastered) releases through all major streaming/download services (and then some) as well as being available in CD format.

We're including a photo from our test printing process to go along with this post. Making high quality test prints is essential when you want to make sure that the artwork turns out as intended.

Some information about this new album, taken from our press release:
Soon after the release of their debut album Omit started writing new material. The recording of this new material got started at the Secret Quarters Studios in the beginning of 2014 and, initially, resulted in a full length album with the title of Medusa Truth Part 1. Mixing and mastering of this album took place during the summer of the same year, and got completed in time to make Secret Quarters Records' autumn release window. Medusa Truth Part 1 was then announced to be released on November 26th, 2014.

As "Part 1" in the title suggests, the album is a part of a series of albums that will attempt to portray a sequence of events in the period of a person's life. Part 1 deals with a certain series of events, in three parts (or sub-parts or chapters, if you will) corresponding to the number of tracks on the album. The following album (or albums) will seek to musically describe other events in the life of the protagonist.

The title of the album was inspired by the following passage from The Mutiny of the Elsinore by Jack London: "The profoundest instinct in man is to war against the truth; that is, against the Real. He shuns facts from his infancy. His life is a perpetual evasion. Miracle, chimera and to-morrow keep him alive. He lives on fiction and myth. It is the Lie that makes him free. Animals alone are given the privilege of lifting the veil of Isis; men dare not. The animal, awake, has no fictional escape from the Real because he has no imagination. Man, awake, is compelled to seek a perpetual escape into Hope, Belief, Fable, Art, God, Socialism, Immortality, Alcohol, Love. From Medusa-Truth he makes an appeal to Maya-Lie."

Omit just published a video with the first audio clip from their upcoming Medusa Truth Part 1 album and a few tiny peeks into the recording process of the same album.

In addition to giving everyone a taste of the music on the album, the video also gives everyone a look behind the scenes of the production of the album. The video clips show the recording of guitars and pianos on the first parts of the track entitled Distrust. The Medusa Truth Part 1 album releases on November 26th, on Secret Quarters Records.

The date has been set for the release of Omit's new album! We just got the copies of the CD version back from the printing facility, did our usual quality check, and we are good to go.

Vestige of Virtue to release debut album "Sophia" on October 1st

Secret Quarters Records are pleased to announce the latest addition to their roster, namely the gothic doom metal trio Vestige of Virtue.

Besides Secret Quarters' own Kjetil Ottersen, this project is manned by vocalist Frode Forsmo, known from acts including Old Man's Child, Tulus, Minas Tirith and Funeral, and drummer Shaun Winter Taylor-Steels, a name familiar to most My Dying Bride, Anathema and Solstice enthusiasts. Vestige of Virtue, then, is the company's first act to include permanent non-Secret Quarters members.

Vestige of Virtue originates back to the preliminary songwriting and recording initiated by Ottersen in 2009. A couple of years later, the production of debut album Sophia had reached completion whereas a number of reasons led to the release being procrastinated indefinitely. Hence, it is with great excitement that Sophia will finally be presented and made available to the audience.

Announcing the Secret Quarters Triple Pack

We can finally make it official! Omit's long awaited, double debut album - containing 85 minutes of music - will be released by Secret Quarters on September 1, 2011. More details about the release of "Repose" - and how to order it - will be revealed leading up to the release.

We are currently at work getting our business in order, writing and signing various contracts and - most importantly of all - planning the upcoming releases for 2011.

At the moment we are planning no less than three releases. These include the long-awaited "Repose" double album by Omit, and the equally long-awaited, self-titled album by Vagrant God. The third one - and we're hoping to release this one quite soon as well - is a new EP from Havnatt.

More details on each one of these releases will follow in future posts. We might also be able to give you some release dates in a little while...
